CSK’s R Ashwin fined before IPL 2013 after first test match

Ravichandran Ashwin has held the reigns of spin department of the Indian cricket team for quite some time now. His steady rise through the platform of Indian Premier League has also reflected in his performances for the Indian team. However, during the recent test series against England, critics have questioned his technique because of his woeful failure against the English batsmen. While English spinners like Monty Panesar and Graeme Swann left the Indian batsmen flummoxed, Ashwin failed to irk any of their batsmen. This lead to the fear of withering away of a promising spin talent who many have hoped to fill in the void of Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh in the Indian team. However, just before this year’s ipl schedule, Ashwin has proved his mettle once again.

Ashwin resulted in amassing 12 wickets in the first test match against Australia in the Border- Gavaskar Trophy. The test series will be preceding ipl 2013. However, the euphoria for the spinner was blotted to some extent by a fine invoked by International Cricket Council. The fine has not been incurred due to any misbehaviour on Ashwin’s part.

Instead the fine has been result of breach of clothing regulations which ICC has chalked out for test matches. Ashwin was seen sporting 4 logos on batting pads, which surpassed the permissible limits. This resulted in fine of 10 percent of the match fees for Ashwin. Fans would be hoping this does not reflect on his form before this year’s ipl live score kicks in.

Kings XI Punjab IPL 6 buy Gony caught in controversy with Australia’s Siddle in 2nd warm up match

Kings XI Punjab, like most of the other 9 teams participating in the sixth Indian Premier League, did not make their money bag flutter much during the player auctions of this season, which took place in Chennai on February 3. The Mohali city based franchise made only 2 buys during the auctions. They spent less than a million US Dollars to grab hold of Luke Pomersbach and Manpreet Gony, though they had over 7 millions in their money bag after retaining players from their former team squad. Luke Pomersbach has been in news for controversial reasons during last year’s IPL. And now a fresh controversy seems to have struck for the Kings XI Punjab IPL Tickets 2013 buy just before the test series between India and Australia.

However, this time it is not due to Luke Pomersbach, but because of the half million US Dollar worth Manpreet Gony. During the final day of the second warm up match between India ‘A’ side and Australia, India ‘A’ were about to cease the match in their favour when the controversy struck. As per the reports, Peter Siddle of Australian team was adjudged run out on the same delivery when a boundary was hit. The incident happened during the 12th over of the final day when Siddle played a Rakesh Dhruv delivery towards mid-wicket and started running.

Manpreet Gony was giving the chase to the ball and got hold of the ball to throw it back and get Siddle run-out during his attempt to complete the third run. However, the ball has reportedly crossed the boundary line and Gony pulled it in. Though on-field umpire got the match referee involved, in absence of proper replays, Siddle was adjudged out. Gony was left red faced due to lack of game spirit despite securing wicket for his team.
